Kuznetsova to play Radwanska in San Diego final

Tennis Betting Lines

08/08/2010 - Carlsbad, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Svetlana Kuznetsova defeated fifth-seeded Flavia Pennetta, 6-4, 6-0, to move into the finals of the $700,000 Mercury Insurance Open, a hardcourt U.S. Open Series event.

The Russian claimed nine of the last ten games. Kuznetsova broke Pennetta to take a 5-3 lead in the first set, then was broken back before breaking Pennetta again to close out the first set.

Pennetta was denied the chance to join Venus Williams and Maria Sharapova as the only players to reach four finals this season.

Kuznetsova will face fourth-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska in Sunday's final after the Poland native handled Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova, 6-4, 6-2, in the other semifinal.

The Kuznetsova-Radwanska encounter will serve as a rematch from the 2009 China Open. The Russian won in straight sets to collect the last of her 12 career titles. Neither Kuznetsova nor Radwanska have reached another final until this tournament.

Radwanska will be vying for her fifth career championship and first since winning at Eastbourne, the third title that she captured in 2008.

This San Diego event, which was last held in 2007, will pay this week's big winner $107,000.
