Nats avoid arbitration with Zimmermann, Clippard

Zimmermann, a core piece of the Nationals' future, went 8-11 with a 3.18 ERA in 26 starts last season, his first full year back from Tommy John surgery.

Clippard made 72 relief appearances for the Nationals in 2011, posting a 3-0 record with a 1.83 ERA. He had 104 strikeouts over 88 1/3 innings and made his first All-Star appearance.

Gorzelanny went 4-6 with a 4.03 ERA in 30 games (15 starts) last season, his first with Washington.
